02 / THE BIGGER PICTURE
Through the years
Counts reflect reviewed questions in each year. Different paper coverage can change the pattern. A dash means no reviewed data, not zero questions.
Use these patterns alongside your syllabus and the concepts you find challenging.
03 / KNOW YOUR DATA
What the numbers include
Compare coverage by year
| Year | Reviewed questions | Contributing / listed papers | Expected questions in listed papers | Verified roster sittings |
|---|
Expected questions describe the listed-paper roster for your selected subject, not the reviewed denominator. An unverified roster remains unverified. Missing papers and language variants may limit comparisons.
A thoughtful way to read the data.
One question, one primary topic. Each included question counts once under its primary chapter and topic. Cross-topic classifications involve editorial judgment and may be revised. Matching questions with equal structural components spanning chapters appear as Mixed-topic Questions when no chapter controls more than half the components. Components are not assumed to have separate marks and are not counted as extra questions.
A visible denominator. Percentages use all reviewed questions matching your exam, years and subject. Selecting a classification changes its yearly numerator, never that denominator.
Frequency is not marks or a forecast. Counts include printed optional questions and grading exceptions. The 2012 predecessor exams were AIEEE and IIT-JEE. Syllabi, paper formats, optional-question rules and shift coverage changed during 2012–2026, so question frequencies are not directly comparable exam weightage. Historical inclusion does not confirm that a topic remains in the current syllabus. Use year filters to examine recent periods separately.
Coverage comes first. JEE Main is a small, non-random selected-paper sample. Reviewed coverage and missing years are shown explicitly. This independent research pilot does not claim official affiliation.
